We’re selling this car on behalf of the third owner, who has owned the car since 2012. Until being brought to Illinois in 2012, the car had remained in Massachusetts since new. In the late 1990s the original owner began a frame off restoration, which went on for a dozen years and carried over into the second owner’s ownership, who owned a body shop in Massachusetts. There the car’s frame was restored, body panels were refurbished, the interior was nearly replaced in its entirety, and a handful of mechanical items were tended to, though the car would later see an engine swap. The car was then sold to the current owner, who had the car treated to a thorough overhauling. In 2013, a new big block 496cid V-8 was installed, along with a Tremec 5-speed TKO600RR manual transmission and a number of other performance-enhancing bits, some of which are outlined above. As it sits, this car is a well done, seriously fast, and mechanically sound example of one of the most iconic ‘60s muscle cars. Exterior: This car has had all the restorative work done, with the exception of a high-end paintjob. The car currently wears a satin black paintjob, which shows a few decent-sized scratches. It’s definitely presentable, and the car does look sinister and purposeful as is, but a repaint would bring it to a truly A-level example. Panel gaps are good throughout, and all lights and glass are clear and crack-free. There is one tiny door ding on the passenger door, the rest of the car is nice and straight. Trim and chrome pieces all present very well, and were new in 1997. Front fenders are missing their SS badges. Wheels are 15” Weld Racing Prostars, and look great. A meaty set of Mickey Thompson tires out back give the car an aggressive stance. Tires have lots of tread left, 11/32” up front and 9/32” in the rear. Interior: Interior is in excellent shape. Black leather seats are in as-new condition, and black carpeting is very nice throughout. Dash is in great shape, with no cracks or damage. Original steering wheel is in nice shape as well, with no cracking or peeling. All gauges are functional, and an oil pressure gauge and water temperature gauge have been mounted under the dash. This car is purpose-built to be driven and enjoyed; there are no wipers and no radio. Fan does not blow. Air conditioning system has been removed. Windows are roll-ups, and track nicely. Lights and glass are all clear and crack-free. Underneath / Under the Hood: 496cid big block makes serious power; please see attached dyno report. It makes massive low-end torque, 586ft-lbs at 4700rpm. At 6586rpm, the car makes 596hp. And that’s on 93 octane pump gas. With the combination of the 496, Tremec 5-speed, sticky tires, and a proper exhaust, it’s a real blast to drive. Exhaust not
